This summer at The Kick & Push Festival, we were proud to present Annie Baker’s Pulitzer Prize award-winning play The Flick. Set at The Screening Room, a local favourite of Kingstonians, the play featured two Single Thread alums from Toronto (Edward Charette and Cassidy Civiero) and two Kingstonians new to Single Thread (Paul Smith and Jesse Losee).
Running July 24-29, The Flick was sold out from opening night all the way to
closing. Audience members praised the realism of the show along with the deep relationships forged by The Flick’s characters. We felt very fortunate to have prolific Canadian playwright and
professor John Lazarus comment that “By the end, you feel you know these young characters all the way down to their souls.”
Often asked if this production had come in from Toronto, we were proud to say that The Flick was built from the ground up in Kingston. With a rehearsal time of only eight days, we felt fortunate to have a hard-working cast and crew that made the Kingston theatre scene proud.
We would like to thank The Screening Room’s owner Wendy Huot, who was more accommodating and generous than we could have asked for.
