Ambrose
Bangkok, Thailand (2018)
In 1919, theatre tycoon and self-made millionaire Ambrose Small sold all of his theatres, deposited the cheque, had lunch with his wife, bought a newspaper - and then disappeared.
Adapted from Single Thread's original production in 2016 as part of the Kick & Push Festival, director Liam Karry created a two-track, solo audience experience in Bangkok's Chinatown.
Audience members arrived at Ba Hao, a lively bar in a 60 year old shophouse, and were pulled away in pairs and led down the street where they then embarked on a series of interactions with different characters - the widow, the mistress, a medium, a musician.
Ambrose was presented as part of the Bangkok Theatre Festival and was awarded 'Best International Production'
