Stage Producer (Kingston)

About the job
As a Stage Producer, you will work closely with the Artistic Director to manage the logistics of productions andevents during Single Thread’s summer and fall 2022 season, including the presentation of ColliderVR at the 2022 World Stage Design Festival, the Kick & Push Festival, and the Performance and XR (PXR) 2022 conference.
This position is funded by the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs program.
Responsibilities will include:
Working collaboratively with the Artistic Director to accomplish Single Thread’s artistic and organizational goals in a timely fashion;
Meeting and maintaining Single Thread's relationships with organizational and artistic partners;
Researching possible funding streams, and support grant writing for upcoming initiatives;
Assisting in the casting and hiring of production teams;
Conducting pre-production activities with partners; and
Representing Single Thread at meetings and events within the Kingston arts community, provincially and nationally.
All events and productions will be in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines.
This a full-time position with flexible working hours and regular online communication and periodic in-person meetings.
Target start date: July 4, 2022
Number of weeks: 8
Hourly wage: $15.25 (35 hours per week)
Qualifications
Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period (as per Canada Summer Jobs funding requirements).
Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Experience in production management and/or event management, including online events.
Experience writing successful grant applications and knowledge of municipal, provincial and national funding bodies.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to plan, organize and carry out assigned duties and responsibilities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and G-Suite.
Passion for and/or a creative practice rooted in immersive theatre and/or XR is a strong asset.
Graphic designs skills are an asset.

About Single Thread
Single Thread creates immersive theatre experiences in Canada and internationally that seek to advance the art of immersive storytelling through innovation and the presentation of new works. For the past two decades, Single Thread has played a role in shaping enthusiasm and best practices for ‘site-specific’ and ‘immersive’ theatre in Canada and worked with hundreds of emerging and established theatre artists. In 2018 and 2019, Single Thread produced solo-audience immersive experiences in Bangkok. The company is exploring the emerging medium of XR (augmented, virtual and mixed reality) as a means of telling stories to a broader audience through Single Thread XR, which includes the annual Performance and XR (PXR) conference in virtual reality. Single Thread is also developing immersive storytelling techniques as a teaching tool in Canadian schools through Single Thread Education.
