Artist Producers

About the job
We’re looking for five (5) artist-producers to support productions and events during Single Thread’s summer and fall 2023 season, including the Performance and XR (PXR) 2023 conference.
This position is funded by the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs program.
Responsibilities will include:
Working collaboratively with the Artistic Director to accomplish Single Thread’s artistic and organizational goals in a timely fashion;
Meeting and maintaining Single Thread's relationships with organizational and artistic partners;
Researching possible funding streams, grant writing for upcoming initiatives;
Assisting in the hiring of production teams;
Providing live support during events;
Conducting pre-production activities with partners; and
Representing Single Thread at meetings and events within the arts community, provincially and nationally.
This a full-time position with flexible working hours, regular online communication and periodic in-person meetings.
Target start date: July 4, 2023
Number of weeks: 8
Hourly wage: $18 (35 hours/week)
Qualifications
Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period (as per Canada Summer Jobs funding requirements).
Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
3+ years of experience in event marketing and communications. Experience with virtual events, events in the arts or tech sector, and social media management is an asset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write for different audiences.
Able to work well independently and meet deadlines.
Highly organized with attention to detail.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Content creation skills are strongly valued.
Existing relationships with Canadian media is an asset.
Passion for and/or a creative practice rooted in immersive theatre and/or XR is a strong asset.

About Single Thread XR
Single Thread XR builds the capacity of artists to engage with XR, brings together artists and technologists to share work in performance and XR, and seeks to create new work that explores the intersections of immersive theatre and XR.
In 2020, Single Thread partnered with Electric Company Theatre with support from the Canada Council for the Arts to produce PXR 2020 - a four day symposium which brought together over two hundred artists, administrators, academics and technologists from diverse backgrounds across Canada in virtual reality using the Altspace VR social platform to discuss how artists are using XR media and feature presentations from thought leaders in the area of XR, panel discussions, host networking events for artists and technologists. PXR has since become an annual event.
