Collider

Collider was a research and development process investigating the storytelling and movement potential of live, immersive theatre in virtual reality.

In 2021, Single Thread assembled Canada’s first remote VR theatre ensemble to begin a research and development process exploring the storytelling and movement potential of live, immersive theatre in virtual reality. The ensemble developed Collider, a series of physical theatre vignettes in an abandoned Large Hadron Collider, sealed off from all human contact for decades.

Collider’s findings were presented in partnership with Upintheair Theatre in Vancouver, and SpiderWebShow Performance in Ontario at the rEvolver Festival and Festival of Live Digital Art (FOLDA) in May and June 2021.

A second research process was presented at the SummerWorks Festival and World Stage Design Scenofest in August 2022.
